HOW TO BUILD A HUMAN

In San Francisco, in the year 2047, a covert startup called the Rebirth Project is on the brink of performing the world’s first human resurrection. Problem is, they’re almost out of cash.

Then comes the timely death of a biotech mogul’s only son in what appears to be a drunk driving suicide. Unable to accept the tragedy, his billionaire mother purchases a controlling stake in the Rebirth Project, saving the experiment and pushing her agenda on an already near-impossible scientific endeavor.

One person suspects something strange going on and it is the deceased’s AA sponsor, a washed up homicide detective on sobriety leave named Hector Herrera, who has a different hunch as to what happened the night of the accident. Driven by guilt, Hector’s investigation leads him deep into the underbelly of San Francisco’s longevity elite where he’s forced to team up with an unlikely partner who’s very existence challenges everything Hector believes to be true.

As the line between life and death becomes frayed, Hector is forced to make a choice that will challenge the very foundation of his beliefs. In doing so, he may just uncover the puzzle piece scientists forgot when they formulated how to build a human.
